Why Get Moving?
Core Values
Foundation of our school mission
Our Core Values are the root beliefs that guide us daily as we create a community of learners. They are the foundation of our School Mission and Vision, instilled through character development and Social-Emotional Learning, and tethered to our PBIS matrix.
Honor
Acting with integrity and respect
Integrity
Being honest and ethical
Empathy
Understanding and caring for others
Leadership
Taking initiative and responsibility
PBIS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
PBIS is a proactive approach that PS 139 uses to improve school safety and promote positive behavior. The focus is on prevention — students are taught positive behavior strategies just like any other subject. We use a common language across all grades and subject areas, with students rewarded for demonstrating expected, positive behaviors, which encourages a safe environment at PS 139.
