HMH Into Reading

Comprehensive Literacy Program

In September 2021, PS 139 adopted the HMH Into Reading program schoolwide. The program is aligned with the Next Generation Learning Standards for ELA and includes small group reading, skill and strategy lessons, English language development, and independent literacy activities.

Writing is connected to the reading module and incorporates independent writing, peer review, needs-based small groups, and one-on-one conferences with the teacher.

Aligned with Next Generation Learning Standards

PS 139 uses enVision Math 2.0 which incorporates both digital and print materials to combine problem-based and visual learning. Each lesson begins with a real-world problem that allows children to evaluate their options, collaborate with their peers, and present solutions.

Passport to Social Studies

PS 139 utilizes the Passport program and follows the NYC K-8 Social Studies Scope and Sequence. Students are challenged to think like historians, raise questions, think critically, consider many perspectives, and analyze historical events.
